ECS Engineering & Construction was founded in 1992, by Jason
Chidiac, a Professional Engineer and graduate of Ohio State
University and the University of Akron with his Masters of Science
in Civil Engineering.
At ECS our primary belief is to "do one thing and do
it well"; because of this, we have become the predominant
general contractor in the Ontario petroleum industry. We have
successfully won every major tender and alliance contract we
have pursued, including our construction or maintenance alliances
with Petro-Canada, Suncor (Sunoco) and Imperial Oil (ESSO).
One of our greatest achievements to date is to have been selected
as Petro-Canada's and Sunoco's sole General Contractor for Ontario.
We had very stiff competition, however, our proven track record,
ability to understand our customer's goals and objectives and
integrate them into our proposed organization and vision, along
with our in house technical expertise in the industry, allowed
us to emerge as victors.
We are actively involved in projects ranging in size from small
maintenance repairs to demolition and soil remediation up to
full site construction and associated roadway modifications
and city service connections. Our main specialty is retail service
station construction including tank & piping installations,
convenience stores and fast-food restaurants, car washes and
civil construction works. We are also involved in wholesale
construction projects such as bulk plants, truck stops, and
distribution terminals.
ECS Engineering & Construction Limited has a staff of approximately
50 people including three project managers, nine site supervisors
and various skilled construction trades people. Our office staff
consists of three full time engineers, an architectural technologist,
and an accountant. All employees of ECS are educated within
the petroleum and construction field with extensive petroleum
engineering and construction related backgrounds.
In the field, our core business is general contracting thus
we have carpenters, concrete finishers, heavy equipment operators,
etc on staff, however, we also do 95% of our own petroleum piping
and equipment installations using our own staff.
For both ECS and our customers, safety is a major concern.
In an effort to ensure we meet and exceed the safety requirements
of our local governing bodies we have a professional safety
consultant who carries out unscheduled safety audits on our
projects on a monthly basis. This ensures our workers and sub-contractors
are conforming to our Corporate Health and Safety Policies,
as well as meeting and exceeding the local labour laws. Our
management team is committed to dealing with each safety recommendation
from our safety consultant and field staff as it applies and
providing any necessary training and equipment to our staff
to ensure we reach our 0 hour loss-time goals.
ECS Engineering and Construction Ltd. is also a member of the
Ontario Petroleum Contractors Association and The Ontario General
Contractors Association. Through the Ontario General Contractors
Association we are a member of a pilot program with The Workplace
Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB - formerly Workmans Compensation)
to develop a safety group among its members. The primary goal
of the group is to reduce accidents in the workplace through
sharing of information and expertise.
As we continue into the future, ECS Engineering & Construction
Limited is committed to becoming a leader in petroleum engineering,
design and construction. We hope to achieve this through safety,
service, innovation, and technology.
